I had a wonderful conversation with the News-Post journalist Nolan Wilkinson last week.

He starts the article with this:
For artist Sarah Hempel Irani, running for a newly created City Council district making up much of the northwestern section of Frederick is an opportunity to represent Frederick’s artistic community and improve affordability.
“Without affordable studio space, without affordable places to live, without transportation options, artists can’t be here, and musicians and the theater people can’t either,” she said in an interview on Friday. “We have to make sure that we create an environment for creativity to thrive and that people aren’t just stuck on survival mode.”
District 5, which she hopes to represent, stretches around the unincorporated Clover Hill community and includes Fort Detrick, Frederick Community College, the Whittier neighborhood, the Tuscarora Creek neighborhood and more.
